Melaleuca Takes Action to Help Hurricane Victims, reports East Idaho News

Before Hurricane Helene even made landfall, Melaleuca was getting into contact with churches, community centers, Red Cross shelters, and Melaleuca Marketing Executives across the southeast to plan an extensive relief effort.

East Idaho News covered Melaleuca’s relief effort, detailing the company’s action in sending food and supplies to hurricane victims across the affected region.

Melaleuca: The Wellness Company sent emergency supplies comprising Riverbend Ranch Black Label Beef, snack items, and hygiene and personal care product to the regions that were impacted most heavily by the Category 4 hurricane—Tampa and Tallahassee, Florida; Augusta, Macon and Valdosta, Georgia; Asheville, North Carolina; Knoxville, Newport and Johnson City, Tennessee; and Greenville, South Carolina.

The food and supplies were delivered via semitruck, with a driving team to ensure near-continuous driving between each stop. Road closures and overall road conditions made the trip difficult, and the driving team had to alter their route multiple times. But the products were delivered successfully to those who needed them most.

“There are so many people in need in our community,” said Jonathan Montgomery, a Melaleuca Executive Director 3 from Valdosta. “Homes have been destroyed, and people have been displaced. Families have been without power for days and days. When I saw that Melaleuca truck pulling into our church parking lot with loads of personal care items, beef patties and beef franks, it was a little overwhelming. Because of Melaleuca, the lives of families in Valdosta and Lowndes Country have been enhanced.”

“Many of the ports and traditional ways of shipping emergency supplies have been wiped out,” the article read, “so volunteers are getting creative, shipping items via helicopter, lifted truck, ATV, dirt bike, horse, mule and even kayak.”

With recovery, rebuilding, and other relief efforts likely to be ongoing for months, The Wellness Company is continuing to communicate with community leaders, who have been grateful for Melaleuca’s proactive involvement in relief efforts.

“I want to make sure to shout out a hardy THANK YOU to Melaleuca, your foundation, employees and donors,” said Jennifer Kilburg of the Feeding Tampa Bay Food Bank. “We were pleasantly surprised to receive a $25k gift yesterday from Melaleuca to support our Hurricane Helene relief efforts. And to our surprise, your company is not even local. From across our country, an organization that was not directly impacted by Helene made a significant donation to support our efforts to help our region during this challenging time. What a gift! Thank you from the bottom of our empty bowls.”
