A Melaleuca employee's musical contribution to the community has caught the attention of the national media spotlight. Ben Watson, part of Melaleuca's communication team, is also the founder and director of the Rexburg Children's Choir, which recently produced an innovative virtual choral performance that captured the interest of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

Aired as part of the network's Sunday evening broadcast to a viewing audience of 8.3 million, Anchor Kate Snow reported how Watson was able to safely continue choral activity during a pandemic by using green screen technology, a video effect commonly used by weather forecasters.

Using a green screen, or in this case, a green cloth, Watson created a choral music video of "For Unto Us a Child is Born," recording one singer at a time, which allowed for safe singing during the pandemic. Then, with the editing wizardry of a contracted videographer, singers were made to appear as if they were all singing together on the same stage.

"There's good news tonight about music finding a way," Snow began the NBC report. "A way to bring us together this holiday season, even when we're far apart."

Melaleuca Employees Giving Back

Watson's labor of love with the Rexburg Children's Choir is just one of many examples of Melaleuca team members giving back to their community. In the spirit of the Melaleuca Foundation's mantra of doing good where good is needed, Melaleuca employees are quick to serve their communities and frequently come together in support of meaningful causes.
